ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

INTRODUCTION

Dragonfly recognises that a healthy environment is fundamental to the prosperity and wellbeing of our local community. We acknowledge that whilst our activities may have adverse effects on the environment, we can take steps to minimise those impacts

• Dragonfly considers that the environment is important and will comply with and, where possible, exceed all environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice, as applicable.

• Dragonfly will make a positive contribution to environmental growth by protecting and enhancing the local and global environment.

AIMS OF POLICY

The aims of this Environmental Policy are to:

• Promote the importance and value of a quality environment,

• Carry out our work in an efficient way that minimises or eliminates its adverse impact on our environment.

• Promote the development of a Circular Economy

• Repair our impact on our local environment

• Ethically and sustainably source consumables

Move to being Carbon neutral.

EMBEDDING ENVIRONMENTAL DECISION-MAKING INTO DRAGONFLY’S DNA

The Kate Raworth Doughnut Economics model can help companies with environmental decision-making. The wheel below, which is used by Dragonfly, helps to show how projects and decisions affect the environment and people.

CLIMATE CHANGE

Dragonfly has declared a climate emergency and pledges to be fully carbon neutral by 2025. We have/will set out plans for immediate and long-term actions to reach this goal which include:

• Encourage staff to switch off electrical equipment and unnecessary lights when not in use

• Encourage staff to close windows and external doors when heating is on

• Encourage staff to minimise the use of electric heaters and fans

• Introduce phased replacement of electrical equipment used in Dragonfly offices with products of maximum energy efficiency rating

• Ensure we use 100% renewable energy tariffs for electricity on company premises

• Introduce natural climate change solutions (such as tree planting and rewilding)

• Undertake an audit of current company emissions

• Agree measures to track Dragonfly’s carbon footprint over time

• Ensure essential business travel only is undertaken by employees and officers of the company

• Carbon offset business travel through the use of natural climate change solutions

• Use public transport for business travel wherever possible

Emission Reduction Targets and Measurements

Dragonfly has signed upto the Science Based Targets sciencebasedtargets.org to support the move to a zero-carbon economy and science-based emissions reduction targets. This means Dragonfly will:

• Commit to the SBTi (in line with a well-below 2°C trajectory)

• Measuring and reporting to within a 12 months period Dragonfly’s full GHG Scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions *3; of the publishing of this Policy.

• Set an objective of reducing the overall carbon footprint (GHG Scopes 1, 2 and 3) aligned with the SBTi well-below 2°C trajectory. This means to reduce the carbon footprint by a minimum of 2.5% per year (compared to the previous year), with the first emission reduction achieved within a 2 year period (or earlier) of the publishing of this Policy

• Present on a yearly basis, the key performance improvement areas identified, the action plan put in place and solutions found (such as moving to renewable electricity, reducing energy consumption, reducing travel/freight impact, etc.)

RECYCLING AND WASTE

Dragonfly is committed to keeping waste to a minimum by preventing, reusing, recycling or recovering waste, by:

• Ensuring waste is sorted, stored and disposed of appropriately

• Ceasing use of single-use plastics on Dragonfly premises and events

• Recycling all recyclable waste generated at Dragonfly premises and events

• Promoting and encourage recycling across the company

• Using recyclable, compostable and/or recycled products on Dragonfly premises

• Reducing the production of non-recyclable resources such as laminated or plastic based publicity material

• Minimising the amount of printing and minimise the amount of waste paper

• Utilising electronic communications to minimise printing paper documents

• Minimising pollution and prevent where possible (including light, noise, solids, liquids and chemicals)

• Ensuring all electronics and reused and recycles with a suitable accredited scheme/supplier

SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL

Dragonfly activity seeks to ensure all company related travel is sustainably sourced and encourages its employees to do the same. We do this by:

• Promoting and supporting modern working practices, such as remote working, amongst staff

• Encourage members and officers to car-share, where possible, when a car journey must be made on business

• Promoting and supporting the use of cycling, public footpaths and public transport

• Ensuring all international travel is take on carriers that have carbon offsite programmes where possible

• Ensuring meetings and company events are scheduled to minimise travel to and from the office and clients site.

WATER MANAGEMENT

Dragonfly is committed to responsible water management and conservation throughout its operations, which include:

• Encouraging staff use to water efficiently on Dragonfly premises

• Where possible, ensuring taps and other water sources are turned off when not in use

• Ensuring staff are aware of which materials can be disposed of in waste water

RESPONSIBLE & SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT

Dragonfly actively seeks to ensure the procurement of materials, consumables and services are ethically and sustainably sourced, by:

• Sourcing materials and services locally so long as the requirements for value for money and quality are met

• Ensuring that catering produce, including tea/coffee in offices, is sourced from local, organic, fair trade (or other recognised certification schemes)

• Ensuring that consumables used on Dragonfly offices (such as cleaning products and inks) are eco-friendly

• Ensuring that procurement of goods and services are weighted appropriately to encourage local suppliers thereby promoting the Circular Economy

• Reviewing current and new suppliers regularly to ensure they meet Dragonfly environmental Policy

ENERGY USE

Dragonfly seeks to ensure the responsible use of energy by:

• Undertaking regular reviews of existing energy use in Dragonfly’s offices

• Promoting ways how Dragonfly and employees energy use can be reduced

• Procuring energy from sustainable sources

• Maximising use of wind and solar energy in its offices promoting the use of renewable energy

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Dragonfly actively promotes the concept of the circular economy to preserve value in the form of energy, labour, and materials. We seek to design the best services and products we can, to deliver durability, reuse of keep products, components, and materials circulating in the economy. We do this by:

• Undertaking regular reviews of services used by Dragonfly

• Developing initiatives that encourage the development of a Circular Economy in the company

• Promote and encourage the use of local suppliers

This Policy and its application will be subject to annual review to ensure that it continues to reflect the aims and objectives of Dragonfly and promotes continuous environmental improvement throughout Dragonfly
